IVA: Cohabitation Dangerous For Women

RE: Boise man admits killing live-in girlfriend/KTVB
While cohabitating instead of marrying has become a growing trend, many women are dangerously unaware of the risks of living together. Studies have consistently revealed that the incidence of domestic abuse is remarkably higher in cohabiting households than among couples who have made a marital commitment to each other. In fact, research I did in preparing to give testimony before the 2007 Idaho Legislative Task Force on the Family revealed that aggression is twice as common among cohabiters than among marriage partners, and that women in cohabiting relationships are an astonishing nine times more likely to be killed by their partners than women in marital relationships/Bryan Fischer, Idaho Values Alliance. More here.

Question: Do you agree with the conclusion that women are more vulnerable to physical harm in a cohabitation situation than in a married one?
