It’s My 2 Cents — Guilty Pleasures

I gotta admit that I watched the two-hour season premiere of "Beauty and the Geek" last night. Actually, I watched about 90 minutes of it b/c I took my evening stroll while the producers were airing an hour segment re: how they choose the contestants. I was captivated re: how dumb the beauties were. One potential contestant asked whether the moon and the sun were the same thing. One of the lucky 10 beauties listed Arkansas and Boston among the countries she was asked to list in alphabetical order. If anything, I determined that the beauties were more to be pitied than the geeks (although the geeks were to be pitied, too). I was doing some miscellaneous things in my home office, but I kept being drawn back to the set. For all the goose eggs the reality-TV producers lay, there's a coupla of them that I find fascinating, chief among which is "Survivor." I also wasted my share of time catching snippets from "Dancing with the Stars" last season -- and that was before the gal won who's related to KVNI's old Bubblehead Bob Hough. Mebbe I'm fascinated that people are so hungry for money or publicity that they're willing to be humiliated on TV as being a geek. Or a dumb beauty. Or a lousy dancer. Mebbe I'm experiencing a guilty pleasure b/c I realize I would never have the nerve to do what they're doing.

Question: Do you have a favorite reality show?
