Sometimes politics carries precious little surprise. The long-expected federal lawsuit over closed primaries, filed Wednesday by a group of 71 Idaho Republicans, was a political story as predictable as another 100-degree high temperature. Equally predictable was the reaction from Idaho Democrats. Can't say I blame the D's. As I pointed out here on the blog Thursday, this Republican party purge offers the minority party a great opportunity to reach to the independent middle.
