We’re thankful for our early Thanksgiving celebration

We didn't know it at the time, but we were fortunate to celebrate Thanksgiving early this year.

Back in October, our adult offspring traveled from Southern California to see us in the Pacific Northwest. At the time, Leslie was working on a story for allrecipes.com about camp cooking for Thanksgiving, so we headed to Deception Pass State Park and staged a celebration.

Leslie made an amazing assortment of Thanksgiving food that we warmed up over the campfire. And we had a wonderful time hiking and hanging out Deception Pass, one of Washington's nicest state parks.

Today, with state and federal officials telling us to stay at home for Thanksgiving because of the raging coronavirus pandemic, we can say that we're truly thankful we could get together with family -- even if it was a month early.
