Whitworth’s Beck Taylor elected to national board
Whitworth University President Beck A. Taylor has been elected to the board of directors for the Washington, D.C.-based Council of Independent Colleges.
“I’m pleased to join the board of the largest association of colleges and universities in the country,” Taylor said in prepared remarks. “I believe strongly in private, independent, liberal-arts education, and in the many institutions like Whitworth that deliver high-quality experiences for their students. I hope to serve well the more than 600 institutions of higher learning that are so integral to our country’s success.”
He will serve a three-year term set to expire in January 2013. The election was held during a Jan. 4 meeting of the board of directors at the council's annual Presidents Institute in San Diego, Calif.
The council is described as an association of 750 nonprofit independent colleges, universities and higher education organizations dedicated to leadership, excellence, and enhanced public understanding of private higher education’s contributions.
