CVSD adds text messaging for parents

Central Valley School District added texting as a way to communicate with students' parents.

Text messages will be sent by the district to keep parents apprised of student attendance and school news, as well as emergency notifications, such as a closure or two-hour delay. Messages also will continue to be delivered via phone and email.

Parents will see 23177 or 63079 as the text number sending the messages, district officials told parents. Parents are advised to save the number as "CVSD" so that it is quickly recognized as the official source of school and district messages.

If a parent or guardian would rather not receive text messages, just follow the prompts to opt out.
