Career diplomat will oversee WSU international programs
Career diplomat and WSU alumni Asif J. Chaudhry is returning to Pullman to oversee the university's international programs.
"He brings a wealth of experience literally from around the globe to the position, as well as a deep understanding of the strengths of Washington State University," WSU Provost and Executive Vice President Dan Bernardo said in prepared remarks announcing Chaudhry's hiring.
Chaudhry, who is scheduled to start June 1, has served in various diplomatic roles with the U.S. Foreign Service, including ambassador to Moldavia. He earned his doctorate in agricultural economics from WSU in 1987 and his wife, Charla, was raised in Pullman and is a 1985 WSU grad.
