More UNESCO to Come
As I was looking over the UNESCO World Heritage Site list, I realized that I've been to quite a few of the locations. And I thought, what better way to encourage people to get out there than by telling my own stories? Giving you an inside look at what some of these places has to offer seems like a good way to spread the word, grab your attention and hopefully give you incentive to take a trip of your own.
Looking back at my post from March 17th, you will find a story entitled The Valley of the Crescent Moon. This is one of my favorite trips, as I had the opportunity to visit Petra, an ancient Nabatean city in Jordan. It is also a World Heritage site. Other locations I've written about, such as the Chobe River and Etosha National Park, are not on the list, though they should be.
In the coming months, I will be posting more short stories of my experiences at and in World Heritage locations. To write only about the positive would be untrue and inaccurate. As part of every experience, there is a mixture of emotions and perspectives that run throughout. Without these combinations, if everything went perfectly all the time, I believe we wouldn't truly appreciate life. The best you can do is enjoy the moment, and when the moment isn't exactly enjoyable, save it for later to have a good laugh at yourself and the circumstances.
And so, I hope you enjoy these true tales, and appreciate the bad, the good, the frustrating and the astonishing as they unfold.
