How to quit coal in 30 seconds

Yesterday I posted about the innovative planning measures the City of Chicago is rolling out to combat climate change - except they're not touching their urban coal plants.  In this time-lapse footage, Greenpeace activists paint “Quit Coal” on the 450 ft. tall smokestack at the Fisk power plant in Chicago. They were up there for 26 hours getting the message out.

Coal-fired power plants, like Edison International’s Fisk and Crawford plants, kill between tens of thousands of Americans each year.

That staggering figure includes the 42 Chicagoans who die as a result of pollution from Fisk and Crawford. That human cost most certainly isn't part of the bottom-line for the giant utility company.

In addition to the toxic pollution, coal fired power plants are the biggest single source of global warming pollution in the United States.
