Down To Earth

Another Green Monday: Support KYRS

It’s hard to believe that Bart Mihailovich and I have been doing our weekly environmental news and perspectives show on KYRS – Thin Air Community Radio for over a year now. It’s been a wonderful experience and we look forward to continuing our commitment to reporting environmental news throughout the Inland Northwest for many months to come.

But as I’m sure you’ve heard, the KYRS Spring On-Air Fund Drive starts today and runs through Sunday, March 27th. And as per usual, DTE is kicking off the fun! We ask for your support for operating expenses as well as additional support for the full-power tower. Our goal is to raise $20,000 in general funds, plus an additional $30,000 to meet our tower goal and begin broadcasting this fall with 6,800 watts.

This is the most important fund drive we’ll ever be a part of. Your support allows great community radio to continue to thrive, and everyone benefits from the in-depth public affairs programming and diverse musical talents aired everyday on KYRS.

More importantly, you can help KYRS go from 100 watts to 6,800 watts and double our coverage area. We are a volunteer-powered, non-commercial, listener-supported, community radio station. We depend on people like you to keep the station going strong.

During this fund drive, we have two very special gifts for our donors. For the first person that calls in and pledges $100 (27 cents a day!) for Down To Earth, we will provide you with all of the benefits you get of a regular membership, you’ll get that sweet new KYRS t-shirt all the cool kids have, and best of all you’ll get two tickets to see Robert F. Kennedy Jr. speak here in Spokane on May 19th! This offer is exclusively for Down To Earth supporters.

For our first $75 dollar pledge for Down To Earth, we will offer a rafting trip down the Spokane River with the both of us. Remember, you can pay overtime. For only $35 you can become a KYRS member. Your gift is tax deductible and you will be making an investment into our community. We encourage you to give whatever you can as every little bit helps toward supporting diversity in the community, supporting sustainability in Spokane, and supporting a free, independent voice here and everywhere. And if you’re really feeling generous, donors of $250 or more will become Founding Members of 88.1 the new full power station that will replace the 89.9 low power station (we will still be heard on 92.3).

Please visit this site and consider donating today
. If you do decide to support us, support KYRS, and support community radio, please mark in the comments section of “check out” that you’re donating for the Down To Earth show or call 509-747-3807 and tell them Down To Earth sent you.

Bart and I really appreciate whatever you can do!
