Robert F. Kennedy Jr on Colbert about mountaintop removal mining

When Robert F. Kennedy Jr came to Spokane several weeks ago, he talked a lot about the mountaintop removal mining disaster. Now he's on the Colbert Report to discuss his new film, "The Last Mountain." If you've seen the effects of MTR,  the landscape looks like it was bombed - because that is exactly what happens.  According to a NASA Report, in February 2010, a team of scientists published a review of research on mountaintop mining and valley fills in the journal Science. The scientists concluded that the impacts on stream and groundwater quality, biodiversity, and forest productivity were “pervasive and irreversible” and that current strategies for mitigation and restoration were not compensating for the degradation.
