Share the love this Valentine’s Day
Who says advocacy work isn't fun.
After you share the love with those closest to you this day, send a little to the Spokane County Commissioners. Sure, it might sound weird, but they need to know how much you care about.... no, not about them, about connectivity!
In case you forgot: "Connectivity provides a system of streets that offer multiple routes and connections allowing ease of movement for cars, bikes and pedestrians. [It] provides better coordination and consistency with other jurisdiction’s streets. [It] saves the county and tax payers money by making it easier to service these areas with transit, emergency services and better interjurisdictional cooperation.”
At issue is a major amendment to Spokane County’s Subdivision Ordinance regarding street connectivity. And just in time for Valentine's Day, two of the three Spokane County Commissioners decided to extend the comment period and delay deliberations. Meaning you can send a Valentine to the commissioners to show your support for connectivity. That's what Futurewise is asking, and we think it's a pretty creative way to speak your mind.
Here's what you can do:
1) Be there!

2) Can't be there? Send a valentine to the commissioners. Here's an example to get you started. We did this yesterday - we can feel the love, can you? Follow after the jump for instructions about what to put on your e-card.
How to:
a) Go to a free e-card website that allows you to add a personal message and choose a cheesy valentine! (I like smilebox because you can add a photo to allay suspicions that you are not a living breathing constituent!)
b) Paste the message “Please adopt the Planning Commission and staff recommended amendments to the Subdivision Ordinance to adopt urban connectivity design standards.” in the personal message box.
c) Place the commissioner addresses in “to: box” (bmager@spokanecounty.org, tmielke@spokanecounty.org, mrichard@spokanecounty.org) and follow the directions to send!
