Down To Earth

Photo of the day

Photobucket Photo courtesy of Seattle Get Up and Get On Out. As surreal as the above photo is, it’s actually a familiar landmark for local DTE readers: The Wild Horse Wind Farm near Vantage, easily visible on a clear day during the long drive from Spokane to Seattle on I-90 or from the Gorge Amphitheater. (After seeing the turbines, it’s not unusual to hear a concertgoer ask “whoa, maaaaan. What is that?” )The wind farm, owned by Puget Sound Energy, provides approximately 230 megawatts of electricity through 127 turbines. The project has brought new jobs and $1 million annually in local property tax revenues to Kittitas County. Hint hint.
