Winter Farmers’ Markets around Spokane

Borough Market - Bread Picture from ms pingy on Flickr Just because temps are dropping doesn’t mean you are left in the cold when it comes to local farmers market goodies. Local Spokane blogger A Year of Plenty posted last week on the farmers’ market options. Get informed, and buy local this holiday season. Winter farmers' markets are open in Coeur d'Alene, Spokane and Millwood: •The Millwood Farmers' Market has morphed into a winter market as well, moving indoors to 8919 E. Euclid Ave. Locally raised chicken, beef, winter vegetables, artisan breads and pastries, and local crafts are on the menu. The market is held at the Crossing Youth Center, just east of the Millwood Presbyterian Church parking lot, from noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays. •In downtown Spokane, the Indoor Farmers' Market in the lobby of the Community Building, 35 W. Main Ave., opens Thursday. Organic artisan breads and pastries, fruits and vegetables and free-range eggs and beef are sold at the market between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. There are also local artisans and crafters, with live music each week through April. •The new Local Market CdA started last weekend, inside the Plaza Shops at 210 Sherman Ave. Vendors are selling kosher beef, lamb, chicken, wild caught salmon, fruits and vegetables, homemade bread and pasta, tofu, salsa, coffee, tea, honey, eggs and organic hummus. Crafters are also selling handmade gifts. The market will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Saturday through April.
