Senate President Pro-Tem Brent Hill’s father, Harold, passed away at 1 a.m. today, and his funeral is set for Monday in Rexburg. That’s adding urgency to lawmakers’ scramble to finish this year’s legislative session this week.

“We will not be here next week,” said House Speaker Scott Bedke. “We’re going to take all means necessary to handle our business this week.” Asked if that includes a House vote on HB 464, the governor’s health care bill, Bedke said, “That means handling every bill that’s on the calendar.”
