None of the leading guv candidates, from either party, sold on higher ed CEO proposal
Idaho EdNews surveyed the leading Republican and Democratic candidates for governor about Gov. Butch Otter’s proposal for a higher education CEO, and found none who were sold on the plan. EdNews reporter Kevin Richert writes that Republicans Tommy Ahlquist and Raul Labrador oppose the plan, while Republican Brad Little was noncommittal, but said the proposal “deserves robust discussion.”
Ahlquist called it “an extra layer of government bureaucracy,” while Labrador characterized it as growing government.
Democrats A.J. Balukoff and Paulette Jordan both said they supported a feasibility study, but said it’s too early to create a CEO position, which Jordan called “ill-defined.” You can read Richert’s full report here.
