Science standards hearing on tap this morning

The House Education Committee is holding a public hearing this morning on school science standards - which raised controversy last year when lawmakers voted to remove five sections referring to climate change. Those sections have been rewritten and are back for consideration; Idaho EdNews has a full report here, and the Idaho Education Association has posted information here. The committee will take public testimony - limited to three minutes per person - both today and tomorrow; the hearing starts at 8 a.m. in the Lincoln Auditorium today, and runs until the House goes on the floor at 10 a.m. Tomorrow, the hearing will continue after the House adjourns its early-morning, 8 a.m. session. You can watch live here. The proposed new rules are online here, starting on page 114.
