Hearing time changes for tomorrow’s science standards hearing, amid House action…
So much for the planned schedule in which the House would convene briefly at 8 a.m. tomorrow, and then the Education Committee would resume its hearing on school science standards in the Lincoln Auditorium as soon as the House adjourns, taking as much time as it needs. House Assistant Majority Leader Brent Crane, R-Nampa, said the House didn’t make as much progress through its 3rd Reading Calendar as planned today, so it’ll need to convene and run bills tomorrow, too; so he moved to adjourn the House until 10:15 a.m. tomorrow. There were enough “no” votes on that that Speaker Scott Bedke was in doubt about which side had the majority, so a roll-call vote was held. It came out 39-28 in favor of Crane’s motion, with Education Chair Julie VanOrden, R-Pingree, and 11 of the 16 members of the House Education Committee voting “no.”
VanOrden was none too happy. She told Idaho EdNews that the new plan is to start the science standards hearing tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
