Crapo named chairman of the Senate Banking Committee
Idaho GOP Sen. Mike Crapo was named chairman of the Senate Banking Committee today, succeeding Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Alabama. The Senate tonight passed a resolution ratifying an earlier vote of the committee making Crapo the new chair. He had been in line for the chairmanship of the powerful panel by seniority; the committee's full name is the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. Crapo also serves on the Finance, Budget, Judiciary and Indian Affairs committees, and is a chief deputy whip for Senate Republicans.
