Testimony wraps up on tribal gaming bill, no vote or committee discussion today…

Jeremy Pisca, representing the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho, was the last person called to testify to the House State Affairs Committee this morning on HB 127, the anti-tribal gaming bill. “This is not a new issue in this legislature - it comes back every five or six years,” he said.

Pisca said of the bill, “If we don’t know what the practical effect of it is, why are we doing it? … The only result is lawsuits, and that’s not good for anybody. … We ask that you vote ‘no’ on this bill. It does nothing but create uncertainty.”

With that, Vice Chairman Jason Monks, who has been presiding because committee Chair Tom Loertscher, R-Iona, is the sponsor of the bill, announced that testimony has been completed, and the committee will adjourn for today and come back tomorrow for committee discussion of the bill.
