Two Idaho Attorney General’s opinions point to problems with HB 127, tribal gaming bill

The Idaho Attorney General’s office has written two legal opinions on HB 127, in response to requests from Rep. Tom Loertscher, R-Iona, and Ilana Rubel, D-Boise. You can read the Loertscher opinion here and the Rubel opinion here. Both conclude that HB 127 has legal problems and runs into complex issues involving the interaction of state and federal law and tribal sovereignty.

Loertscher told the House State Affairs Committee this morning, "I think they basically say the same thing. I’ve studied those in detail and I’m sure you’ll hear about those as we progress."
