This week’s “Idaho Reports” on Idaho Public Television includes a roundup of the events of the week, and co-host Melissa Davlin’s extended interview with Gov. Butch Otter, on everything from refugees and immigration to transportation funding.  Otter makes some surprising comments, including suggesting that the nation should give preference to Christians in its refugee program and that “we always did;” and saying God-given constitutional rights are only “for citizens of the United States.”

Asked if he’s still being considered for a job in the Trump Administration, Otter tells Davlin, “I think that train has already left the station,” but adds that he may be considered for an ambassadorship.

On the pundits panel, BSU political scientist Stephanie Witt and AP reporter Kimberlee Kruesi join me, Davlin, and co-host Aaron Kunz to discuss the week, the governor’s comments and more. “Idaho Reports” airs at 8 p.m. Fridays on Idaho Public Television; after it airs, you can watch it here online any time. It also re-airs Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Mountain time, 9:30 Pacific.
