Independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin drew more than 600 people to a rally at the Boise High School auditorium over the weekend, the Idaho Statesman reports. “The Republican Party in nominating Donald Trump has lost its way,” he told the crowd. Elected leaders “spend more time focusing on their own self-interest than they do on serving the country.”

McMullin, a Utah native and BYU grad, drew more than 1,500 people at rallies in Rexburg and Idaho Falls last weekend; he’s offering himself as a conservative alternative to Donald Trump. Running strong in the polls in Utah, McMullin is on the ballot in 11 states including Idaho, and is extending his Utah campaign push into Idaho and Wyoming.
