Bill would grant tax credit for donations to STEM Action Center
The House Revenue & Taxation Committee has voted unanimously this morning to introduce legislation proposed by Sen. Bob Nonini, R-Coeur d’Alene, and Rep. Reed DeMordaunt, R-Eagle, to add the new STEM Action Center to the list of educational entities to which donations qualify for a state income tax credit. After a brief introduction, Nonini said, “Those are the changes to the code section. We can get into details and answer questions if you’d like.” But, noting that it was just an introductory hearing and he’d have more information at the full hearing, Nonini said, “So, Rep. Scott, if you’re willing to make a quick motion we’ll get out of here.”
Amid laughter, Rev & Tax Chairman Gary Collins, R-Nampa, asked, “Can I take control of my committee here?” Nonini responded, “If you would make a motion, that would even be better.” Collins’ response, amid more laughter: “Can you quit talking for a little bit?”
Scott then moved to introduce the bill, and the motion carried unanimously.
