Veto trump bill clears Idaho Senate
Here’s a news item from the Associated Press: BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Senate has unanimously backed a proposal to amend the state's Constitution to allow the Legislature to override a governor's veto almost immediately, even after a legislative session has ended. The amendment would allow lawmakers to convene after the end of the session on bills the governor rejected. That would allow them to enact a bill despite a veto if they have a two-thirds majority vote from each house. Currently, only the governor can call the Legislature back into session after it’s adjourned. After passing the Senate Friday, the bill now goes to the House for approval. However, a similar proposal failed to even get a hearing in the House in 2014. Idaho is one of six states that don't have this ability.
