House minority caucus chair won’t seek re-election

Here’s a news item from the Associated Press: BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho Minority Caucus Chair Donna Pence says she will not seek re-election when her term expires in 2016, opening up a seat in one of the state's few legislative swing districts. Pence, a Democratic representative from Gooding, announced Tuesday that she would not pursue a seventh term. Pence says she's proud of the work she's accomplished, but she wants more time to spend with family. Pence added that she's unsure who will fill her leadership position. Lawmakers vote on legislative leaders every two years following the November election. Pence's legislative district is nestled in south-central Idaho that includes the more liberal Sun Valley resort region as well as conservative agricultural communities like Gooding and Fairfield. It's one of three legislative districts with a split delegation.
