Post Register sold to Minnesota publishing group
The Post Register newspaper in Idaho Falls is being sold to Minnesota-based Adams Publishing Group, the newspaper announced Thursday. The sale also includes the Shelley Pioneer, Challis Messenger and Jefferson Star, and will be finalized Nov. 1. Adams Publishing Group is a family-owned media company based in St. Louis Park, Minn., that owns dozens of newspapers, digital products, and magazines in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maryland and Ohio; the Adams family also owns radio stations, an outdoor advertising company, and Camping World/Good Sam.
The Post Co., owner of the Post Register and the three other papers, has been owned by the Brady family since 1925; employees own just over 30 percent of the paper. “We have done our very best during hard times,” company President Jerry Brady, 79, said in a letter to employees this week. “I believe we have found the best possible buyer, a buyer who is investing in our industry when others are not.”
Post Register publisher Roger Plothow said, “Readers will not see a significant difference in the newspaper.” He will remain as publisher after the sale. You can read the Post Register’s full report here.
