Lawmakers get $5M in good news, with further decline in school broadband costs
Lawmakers received $5 million worth of good news Tuesday morning, reports Kevin Richert of Idaho Education News: The state’s bill for school broadband is now looking like it’ll total just $1.3 million for the year, though the 2015 Legislature had earmarked $6.3 million for school broadband for 2015-16. One reason for the additional savings: School districts have been able to tap into federally administered dollars that had been cut off during the Idaho Education Network broadband contract dispute. The news came at today’s meetings of a legislative interim committee examining broadband access in Idaho; Richert’s full report is online here.
