It’s Election Day across Idaho today, with mayor and city council races on the ballot, along with some school levies and local ballot measures. Boise Mayor Dave Bieter is facing a challenge from former Ada County Commissioner Judy Peavey-Derr and candidate Seth Holden, and Boiseans will vote on an open-space conservation levy. The West Ada School District, the state’s largest, has a critical $28 million, two-year supplemental levy up for a vote; if it fails, the district will have to cut nine days from its school year.

City council races in Coeur d’Alene have seen last-minute campaign mailings filled with false claims, causing community outrage. A ballot measure in Salmon would make it a crime to develop a whitewater park on city property, as a group of local citizens have been working to do. An array of other measures and races are on the ballot, all in nonpartisan, local contests across the state.

Polls are open today from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. To check where you vote, go to idahovotes.gov.
