Shepherd backs out of town-hall forum; his memorial on impeaching judges is dead in Senate
HJM 4, the non-binding measure that the House passed on a 44-25 vote calling for the impeachment of federal judges who rule in favor of same-sex marriage, won’t get a hearing in the Senate, meaning it’s dead for the session, reports Melissa Davlin of Idaho Public TV. Also, Davlin reports, Rep. Paul Shepherd, R-Riggins, the sponsor of the measure, has decided against appearing at a town-hall style forum with LGBT groups concerned about his comments on the bill, something he initially said he welcomed. Chelsea Gaona Lincoln, the young activist who invited Shepherd to the forum, said she was glad HJM 4 is dead. “I’m going to take this as a small victory,” she told Davlin; you can read Davlin’s full post here.
