Admin no longer pushing new rules on Idaho contracts

Here’s a news item from the Associated Press: BOISE, Idaho (AP) - State officials are no longer requesting the Idaho Legislature approve new rules designed to tighten oversight on multimillion dollar contracts after lawmakers voiced concerns the proposed guidelines didn't go far enough. An official with the Department of Administration says adopting the rules is no longer necessary because state lawmakers have since proposed creating an interim committee to review the state's procurement laws. The Idaho Senate Commerce and Human Resources unanimously agreed to exclude the contract oversight rules Tuesday while adopting a handful of other department rules. The department's new guidelines were developed after multiple scandals plagued Idaho's most expensive contracts for years. However, the department had also included an exemption process on its website that would allow agencies or individuals bypass some or all of the new rules.
