Lawmakers back interim committee to examine state contracting
The House Ways & Means Committee has voted unanimously to introduce a resolution from Rep. Luke Malek, R-Coeur d’Alene, calling for an interim legislative committee to study Idaho’s state purchasing practices and recommend changes. Malek said legislative leaders have told him they support the move. House Minority Leader John Rusche, D-Lewiston, noted that the Legislature’s Office of Performance Evaluations issued a report recommending significant improvements to the state’s contracting practices. “There were a number of issues identified there, and I think this would be useful in helping us develop an action plan to improve things,” he said.
