As savings mount from dumping IEN, lawmakers cut Admin budget
Here’s a link to my full story at spokesman.com on the news out of JFAC this morning: That savings have mounted even further from dumping the Idaho Education Network in favor of individual broadband contracts between school districts and vendors of their choice; and lawmakers have lashed out at the state Department of Administration, slashing its budget for next year since it will no longer be running the IEN, and ordering it to do a full bidding process to pick up after a six-month emergency contract it signed with CenturyLink on Feb. 27 for broadband service to state agencies it had previously signed up under the voided IEN contract.
Along with the story, you'll find links to the department's Feb. 27 emergency declaration and its new CenturyLink contract.
