Republican Sen. Curt McKenzie introduced his new bill Wednesday. This is McKenzie's second attempt this year to amend the state's strict marijuana ban in order to allow people with severe epilepsy to use the oil. His first proposal would have decriminalized the oil. McKenzie's new version still criminalizes the oil, but provides a defense for people who are arrested for using the extract. The Senate State Affairs Committee approved introducing the bill, even though McKenzie says the executive branch opposes the new draft. Currently, 12 other states have legalized cannabidiol oil.
