House Dems blast House GOP, say they’ve been closed out of transportation talks

Idaho House Democrats sent out a statement today sharply criticizing House Majority Caucus Chairman John Vander Woude for saying on Idaho Reports on Friday that Dems had “failed to engage” on transportation funding issues.

“It appears to me that Rep. Vander Woude wants to blame the Minority for a failure of the GOP leadership to reach a satisfactory package when the GOP has closed and locked the door to cooperation,” said House Minority Leader Rep. John Rusche, D-Lewiston. The Dems said they’ve been working on solutions, but the House GOP Caucus has insisted it must get all 36 votes needed to pass a bill in the House from within its own caucus. “We were told directly that our input was not wanted by the Majority,” the Dems’ statement says; you can read it here.
