Western govs talk sage grouse, wildfires, security at Vegas meeting; Otter also catches National Finals Rodeo

Gov. Butch Otter joined the governors of Nevada, Wyoming and Montana at the Western Governors Association meeting in Las Vegas today, where they heard a keynote address from Interior Secretary Sally Jewell and talked wildfires, security and more. Otter also had a chance to attend the National Finals Rodeo on Thursday night, which also is taking place in Las Vegas this week. The AP has a report here on the governors’ meeting.

Otter, who along with First Lady Lori Otter is in Vegas through Saturday, was scheduled to moderate a panel at the governors’ gathering about transportation issues. In a statement, he said, “The idea of the WGA is for governors to discuss challenges that we have in common and share best practices on critical public policy issues in our respective states.”

The governors have passed three policy resolutions at their meeting, on forest and rangeland management, foreign visitor preclearance, and radioactive materials transport; you can read more on those here. There’s more on the WGA meeting here.
