Twenty more Idaho Guard members head north to support firefighting efforts
Another 20-plus Idaho National Guard members joined the state’s firefighting effort today, headed from Boise to the Panhandle National Forests to provide support to firefighting operations in the Grizzly Complex fires. That’s on top of the 40 Idaho Air National Guard members who headed north on Wednesday to work on the Tower Fire; the new group also comes from the Idaho Air National Guard. “These additional resources will help alleviate some of the critical staffing shortages that the forest is facing,” said Chad Hudson, Coeur d’Alene River District Ranger. Gov. Butch Otter earlier activated a Blackhawk helicopter and crew from the Guard to assist with the Clearwater Complex fires.
