Warning going out to 155,000 Idaho families: All non-voluntary child support payments could end
The letters that are being prepared to go out to 155,000 Idaho households currently receiving child support payments will warn that “they could stop getting their payments,” Idaho Health & Welfare spokesman Tom Shanahan said, when asked about the letters at the conclusion of the governor’s press conference this morning. “We’ll still be able to do receipting,” for those parents who are making child-support payments voluntarily, he said. But, he said, “We’re not going to be able to do enforcement. That’s where the real angst is.”
Health & Welfare Director Dick Armstrong said, “To me, we have a human tragedy that we’re faced with.”
