Senate Dems push for hearing on amended road $$ bill, move fails on party-line vote
Senate Democrats tried to get HB 312a, the just-amended transportation bill, sent back to the Senate Transportation Committee for a hearing, but their move failed on a 7-27, straight party-line vote. Now, the Senate is preparing to vote on the amended bill; it’s just waiting for the computer system to catch up.
“We had very strong opinions about having had a public process on the Senate side, which we haven’t had a chance to have,” Stennett said after the vote. “It was being rolled. … We decided that we wanted to make a protest vote today.”
