Gov. Butch Otter today signed the anti-bullying bill, HB 246, into law, telling lawmakers and supporters of the bill, “Thank you all for your leadership and your efforts. This is something we’ve needed for quite some time, and now we have the tools.” Rep. Ilana Rubel, D-Boise, a sponsor of the bill, said, “I could not be happier to see this bill become law today. It is so overdue, as the governor noted. … I’m hoping this is going to be a turning point for Idaho.” Among those present for the bill-signing ceremony were parents and family members of bullied children who took their own lives.
