House sends tanning-bed bill back to amending order…

The House has just agreed by unanimous consent, at the request of Rep. John Rusche, D-Lewiston, to return HB 486a, the tanning-bed bill, to general orders for amendment. Yesterday, Rusche's amendment to his own bill failed amid procedural questions, as a competing amendment was ruled out of order. Rusche's amendment would change the bill to only ban youngsters 15 and younger from using tanning beds due to cancer risk, and require parental consent for those age 16 and 18. The competing amendment would remove any ban and just require parental consent.
