‘Sound money’ bill hearing continued to tomorrow morning

House State Affairs Chairman Tom Loertscher, R-Iona, noted that the House was due on the floor at 10:30 today, and he asked if any of those waiting to testify on HB 578, Rep. Phil Hart's “sound money” bill, could return tomorrow. Most said they could, but three testified today, backing the bill and warning of the dangers of “hyperinflation” as experienced in Zimbabwe, Argentina, and 18th Century France. A.J. Ellis of Marsing said everyone's facing currency devaluation, and called the bill “a good way of tackling that.”

Loertscher said, “We will not be able to get to a vote today on this.” He said the hearing will continue tomorrow morning at 8. “We will take this up first thing in the morning,” he said.
