Budgets for the state Department of Lands and the Idaho Department of Water Resources were set by JFAC this morning on unanimous, 20-0 votes. The Lands budget includes an 8.6 percent increase in state general funds and 5.5 percent in total funds, with the general-fund increase including $143,200 for the oil and gas program, including adding a new full-time position. The IDWR budget shows a 4.5 percent increase in general funds over this year's much-reduced level, for a 3 percent increase in total funds; that includes $130,800 for replacement items, to replace several aging vehicles and computer servers. "Our Department of Water Resources is in dire need," said Sen. Steve Bair, R-Blackfoot.

Tomorrow, the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee will set budgets for ITD and the state Tax Commission; on Monday, both public schools and the Corrections are up.
