Eye On Boise

Nullification hearing will run into tomorrow

Testimony is still going in the House State Affairs Committee, even though the House was scheduled to go on the floor half an hour ago; it's now convened without the committee members. "We don't have an awful lot of time left that we can do this today," Rep. Tom Loertscher, the committee chairman, just informed the audience at the nullification hearing. He said he'll have anyone who's from out of town and can't come back tomorrow testify now, but said, "It's obvious that we're going to have to continue this tomorrow morning." The hearing has run since 8 a.m.; it's now 11:20 Boise time. More than two dozen people have testified; more than 200 showed up in total, filling much of the Capitol Auditorium with another nearly 20 listening in two overflow rooms.
