On to stakeholder testimony…
As the Senate Education Committee continued detailed questions to Luna aide Jason Hancock on the proposed school reform bills, points highlighted included a clause doing away with the current law that teachers must get the same pay and contract length as the previous year, replacing that with complete discretion on the part of school districts to make changes from year to year. "They could make it year-round school and pay them the same?" asked Sen. Nicole LeFavour, D-Boise. Hancock responded, "I suppose if the teacher wanted to sign that contract they could." At that point, the committee decided to move on to stakeholder testimony. First up is Karen Echeverria of the Idaho School Boards Association.
