PTA: Favors reducing class size, not increasing
Laurie Boeckel of the Idaho Parent-Teacher Association told the Senate Education Committee that her organization isn't taking a stand for or against the Luna reform plan. She said the group supports increased opportunities for dual enrollment and advanced courses. But it has concerns about increased student access to the Internet and related risks. Plus, she said, "Idaho PTA believes reducing class size, not increasing, is a key element of effective educational experience." Parents also are concerned, she said, that students would see disruption in their classes in the fall as teachers are laid off due to year-to-year enrollment changes, as envisioned in the plan.
