Business group: ‘A bold and innovative step’
Vince Hannity of the Idaho Business Coalition for Education Excellence told the Senate Education Committee that his group is concerned about how few Idaho students go on to college. "In the future, most new jobs will require highly skilled workers," he said. "If Idaho's education system does not rise to meet this challenge, a growing number of those highly skilled workers will not come from Idaho." He said his group supports the Luna reform plan as "a bold and innovative step" toward reform, "although we know that the specifics of the plan will change and good ideas to improve the plan will certainly emerge." He said as the plan is debated, "We strongly encourage all stakeholders to weigh in. ... By working together Idaho will have a system that will be better for all."
