Rev & Tax kills Sen. Goedde’s KTEC bill
Here's a news item from the Associated Press: BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Lawmakers killed a bill that would have expedited plans for a professional-technical high school in northern Idaho and allowed construction to begin before the money was collected from taxpayers. The legislation failed to muster enough votes Tuesday in the House Revenue and Taxation Committee, where lawmakers balked at the prospect of letting the schools begin construction before all the money is in the bank. Voters in the Post Falls, Coeur d'Alene and Lakeland school districts approved financing last year to construct the $9.5 million Kootenai Technical Education Campus in Rathdrum. But under current law, the project can't break ground until all the money is collected. Republican Sen. John Goedde's bill would have allowed the three school districts to start construction this year and pay for the project as the funds are collected.
