When a flasher wraps himself in an ill-fitting leather overcoat most people aren’t curious to know what he plans on revealing.  The same can’t be said for the 2015 Ford Mustang.  Spy video shot this month shows the hotly anticipated muscle car being tested on public streets.  Although there isn’t much that can be discerned about the exterior styling, the audible sound of the engine speaks volumes about the mold-breaking changes Ford has in store for its epic performance machine.

Listen closely with your car enthusiast ears and you’ll notice the sneaky Mustang sounds as though it’s powered by a 4-Cylinder turbo.  World Car Fans Reports:   

“What we do know is that it (2015 Mustang) will be offered with a V8 5.0-liter delivering around 450 bhp (335 kW) and also with a lesser 4-cylinder, 2.3-liter EcoBoost outputting 360 bhp (261 kW). There are also talks about an entry-level model and a flagship Shelby GT350 producing "substantially more" than the aforementioned V8.” (1)

With the introduction of the new turbo four, Ford plans on finally ditching the Mustang’s live rear axle, which in terms of modern suspension technology is akin to finally upgrading from a standard definition to high definition television.  Implementing a brand new platform with the independent suspension and lighter curb weight should make the 2015 Mustang even more impressive than it’s venerable predecessor.

 But of course, the biggest change on the horizon Mustang faithful want clarified is hidden under the sixth generation’s night-flasher disguise.  Word has it the 2015 model will shed its legendary retro styling in favor of a more euro-centric design inspired by the Ford Evos concept.  Ford believes the abrupt departure will help the Mustang appeal to the masses when it’s sold globally for the first time ever next year.

 The 2015 Mustang is believed to be gearing up for a release date next summer, with 1,000 units being sold as 2014.5 models; a nod to the original which was introduced as a 1964.5 model.
