Stallone to host live ‘Rocky IV’ director’s cut tonight

It’s hard to think of an actor who has made more from one simple idea – or a couple of simple ideas – than Sylvester Stallone.
Though he had appeared in a number of movies and television shows, most notably in 1974’s "The Lords of Flatbush," Stallone became an instant star two years later when he appeared in “Rocky,” a film he both wrote and starred in opposite Talia Shire, Burt Young and Carl Weathers, who played the heavyweight champion Apollo Creed.
Directed by John G. Avildsen, “Rocky” was a hit, both at the box office – it was the highest-grossing film of 1976 – and among critics. Nominated for 10 Academy Awards, it ended up winning three (for editing, for directing and for Best Picture).
As we know, though, that was hardly the end. The character of Rocky Balboa went on to fuel a whole franchise, spawning seven more films – including two “Creed” features spotlighting the character Adonis Johnson, the son of Apollo Creed played by Michael B. Jordan. (Note: A third "Creed" film is slated for release in 2022).
Not only did Stallone, act in each of them, but he wrote most if not all of seven (the sole exception being 2015’s “Creed”).
In addition, he directed four, including 1985’s “Rocky IV,” the film that set Rocky up against the giant Russian fighter Ivan Drago (played by Dolph Lundgren).
That’s the film that will screen in a special event at 5 tonight at two area Regal theaters, at Northtown Mall and Coeur d’Alene’s Riverstone Stadium. “Rocky IV: Rocky vs. Drago” is an "ultimate director’s cut" of the film, featuring an added 40 minutes of “never-before-seen” footage and a live Q&A with Stallone himself.
“Rocky” fans should be happy. My question: When will Stallone do the same for that “Rambo” guy?
